Vic Raschi, who was a dominating pitcher for 6 World Series-winning New York Yankees teams in the 1940s and ‘50s, died Friday at his home in Groveland, N.Y., apparently of a heart attack. He was 69.
Raschi had a 132-66 career record with a 3.72 earned-run average in a 10-year career that included stints with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City A’s. He won 21 games for 3 straight seasons with the Yankees in 1949-51.
He was 5-3 in 11 World Series games, including 2 victories in the 1952 Series against Brooklyn.
