Cycling Race Features International Field

More than 125 international riders will compete in the second Kern’s International Cycling Road Race that starts at 8 a.m. Sunday at Pepperdine University, winds through the Santa Monica Mountains and the San Fernando Valley and finishes in Griffith Park.
One of the favorites in the 93.2-mile event is Thurlow Rodgers, a Van Nuys resident and a member of the 1984 U. S. Olympic team. Also competing are cyclists from Canada, Mexico and France.
Cyclists will travel along Pacific Coast Highway, through the Santa Monica Mountains on Mulholland Highway, across the San Fernando Valley along Ventura Boulevard, back across the Santa Monica Mountains at Sepulveda Boulevard and back on Mulholland Drive to Griffith Park.
The race is expected to conclude around noon and will be followed by a 5K run.
