Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : Phony Bomb Found at Auto Dealership
- Share via
A security guard reported a bomb at a car dealership Friday but the device turned out to be phony, police said.
Costa Mesa Police Detective Dan Hogue said the security guard discovered the device at 1 a.m. while making routine rounds at Theodore Robbins Ford in the 2000 block of Harbor Boulevard.
Hogue said bomb squad experts found that the device was road flares and batteries bound with tape.
It was the second phony bomb scare in the city in two days. On Thursday, a man with a citizens’ band radio and wires strapped to his body disrupted operations at the Mesa Verde Shopping Center. The man was arrested pending a psychiatric evaluation.
