2 Found Shot--One Fatally--in Clairemont

A man told San Diego police he entered his mother’s Clairemont home Tuesday and found her in the kitchen suffering from a gunshot wound.
Douglas Burris said he then went to a bedroom and discovered the body of a man who also had been shot.
The identity of the dead man was not disclosed, but the woman was identified by a hospital official as Kathy McCurty, 42.
She was listed in critical condition at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla with a gunshot wound to the chest, said Michael Dabney, a hospital spokesman.
Burris, 21, told police that he came upon the shooting scene when he arrived at the Gila Avenue home shortly before 2 p.m.
He said he helped his mother to a couch, then found the body of a man, a resident of the house, seated in a chair in the bedroom, according to police.
The man also had a gunshot wound, police said, and a pistol was found on the floor next to his feet.
