‘Golden’ Gless?

A well-placed source tells us that negotiations are down to details for the blond half of television’s “Cagney & Lacey” to take on the role of the late NBC anchorwoman. Robert Chartoff is producing the TV adaptation of Gwenda Blair’s “Almost Golden,” the bio that portrayed a deeply troubled and drug-abusing Savitch as her broadcasting career declined.

No script yet (no network firmed, either), but the publicly magnetic/privately tragic Savitch of Blair’s book certainly represents tour de force possibilities.

Gless will have to make at least one stretch: She’s 45--while Savitch started her career at 23 and died at 36.
