Local News in Brief : Countywide : 2 Killed in Separate Traffic Accidents

Two men were killed Sunday in separate early-morning traffic accidents in north Orange County, authorities said.
In Fullerton, a pedestrian, Cupertino Reyes, 59, was struck and killed by a car about 1 a.m. as he was trying to cross the 400 block of South Harbor Boulevard, Fullerton police reported. Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers reported that the driver was a 17-year-old girl from Fullerton who was not identified because she is a juvenile. She was not arrested or cited.
Fullerton police watch commander Bud Lathrop said an off-duty police officer, whose name was not disclosed, saw the accident.
A 43-year-old motorist was killed in another accident when his car went out of control on the Orange Freeway in Brea, struck an asphalt berm and lurched down an embankment into a tree, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher John Isbister said.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, was southbound south of Imperial Highway when he veered off the roadway.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
