Pratt & Whitney announced the elimination of another 1,042 salaried jobs in the last of three rounds of job reductions that will make it “lean and mean” in its competition for commercial and military jet engine contracts. Pratt & Whitney, a division of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Inc., said the latest job cuts brings to about 2,650 the number eliminated through layoffs, attrition and termination of personnel contracts. The cost-cutting measures are expected to save the company a total of $300 million a year over the next three years, officials said.
