Local News in Brief : Countywide : With 4 at Convention, Supervisors Won’t Meet
- Share via
The county Board of Supervisors has canceled its meetings scheduled for today and Wednesday because four of the five members are in New Orleans attending the Republican National Convention.
Supervisor Thomas F. Riley was the only supervisor in his office Monday.
Both Supervisors Gaddi H. Vasquez and Don R. Roth are attending the convention as delegates. Supervisors Harriett M. Wieder and Roger R. Stanton were said to be going as “guests of the party.”
The supervisors are elected to their office on a nonpartisan ballot, but all five members are Republican.
Vasquez is scheduled to give a speech to the convention on Wednesday night, shortly before Vice President George Bush is expected to be officially nominated.
