Golf Roundup : Hill Coasts to 5-Stroke Victory in Syracuse Senior Tournament

Dave Hill’s second victory of 1988 was an easy one--a five-stroke victory Sunday in the $250,000 Syracuse Senior golf tournament at Syracuse, N.Y.
Hill, who had taken a three-stroke lead Saturday with a tournament-record 8-under-par 64, shot a 68 in the final round to finish at 16-under 200. Bobby Nichols and Butch Baird tied for second at 205 in the 54-hole tournament.
Hill, 51, of Brooklyn, Mich., received $37,500. His other victory this year was the Senior Tournament of Champions in Carlsbad.
Nichols, who started the day tied for fourth place five strokes behind Hill, shot a 68 in the final round. Baird shot a 69. Doug Dalziel and Bob Charles were third at 206.
Frank Nobilo of New Zealand scored a one-stroke victory over Howard Clark of England in the $350,000 PLM Open golf tournament in Malmo, Sweden.
Nobilo, 28, who led throughout the European PGA Tour event, shot a 2-under-par 68 for a total of 10-under 270. Clark, the defending champion, had the lowest score Sunday with a 66 for a 271 total. Anders Forsbrand of Sweden tied with Peter Fowler of Australia and Colin Montgomery of Scotland for third at 276.
