A Santa Ana man died Sunday morning of injuries he suffered in a Saturday traffic accident near the Orange County Fairgrounds that left a bicyclist dead.
Leonsio Abrego-Zacarias, 26, was declared dead at 6:20 a.m. at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, authorities said.
He was injured in a 1:30 p.m. collision near the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, police said.
The victim was one of two men riding in a pickup truck that went out of control, rolled over and struck bicyclist Laurence Scott Carhart, 25, of Costa Mesa on the southbound side of Highway 55, where it becomes Newport Boulevard.
Jesus Rojas Mendoza, 39, of Santa Ana, who was also ejected from the truck, was in fair condition Sunday in the intensive-care unit at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, a hospital spokeswoman said. Mendoza suffered head, chest and leg injuries.
It was not clear which of the men was driving the truck.
