A French company is negotiating to buy Filmation, a Woodland Hills cartoon factory that is part of Westinghouse’s Group W division, the studio’s president confirmed. Filmation President Lou Scheimer said he was first approached in April by executives from L’Oreal, a giant cosmetics company partly owned by L’Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt, and the Swiss food conglomerate Nestle SA. Scheimer would not elaborate on the negotiations, and a spokesman for Group W declined comment.
