Circle K Corp., a large convenience food store company headquartered in Phoenix, has notified its employees that any Circle K worker who contracts the disease AIDS as the result of “certain personal life style decisions” will be dropped from the company’s health-care program. The employees were notified of the policy in a letter from Robert M. Reade, president of Circle K. The company, with 4,097 stores in 27 states, has more than 26,000 employees. The Circle K letter to employees cites the reason for the policy as increasing health-care costs. “We believe that these personal life style decisions could seriously impact other participants’ health-care costs,” the letter states.
