The Federal Communications Commission has indicated that it may punish US Sprint Communications Co. unless the long-distance phone company does a better job responding to consumer billing complaints. In a letter last week to US Sprint President Robert H. Snedaker, the FCC said it was concerned about the volume of billing complaints that it has received from US Sprint customers and the company’s “inadequate and inaccurate responses.” The FCC gave Sprint 20 days to explain the procedures it has in place to investigate complaints forwarded by the FCC and what steps it intends to take to respond to these complaints.
