Stevens’ 6 Touchdown Passes Rally Cobras to 49-34 Win Over Steamrollers

Matt Stevens passed for six touchdowns and brought the Los Angeles Cobras from a two-touchdown deficit to a 49-34 Arena Football League victory over the New England Steamrollers Saturday night at Providence, R.I.
The Cobras (4-5) moved two games ahead of the Steamrollers (2-7) in their bid for the league’s final playoff spot.
New England had a 14-0 lead after one quarter, before Stevens, who completed 19 of 29 passes for 249 yards, went to work. He passed for three touchdowns as the Cobras built a 25-14 halftime lead.
Wade Lockett caught 4 of Stevens’ passes for 91 yards, including touchdown plays of 45 and 30 yards, while Joe Kelly made 3 catches for 38 yards, including scoring plays of 5 and 22 yards.
Ex-Raider Cliff Branch caught a 25-yard scoring pass, Gary Mullen scored on an 11-yard pass and Yepi Pauu had the Cobras’ only rushing touchdown, from a yard out.
