Local News in Brief : Laguna Beach : Motorcyclist Injured in Canyon Road Crash

A motorcyclist driving more than 80 m.p.h. on Laguna Canyon Road was seriously injured Monday when he slammed head-on into a car, police said.
Richard W. Ruble, 32, of Fullerton was listed in serious condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo following the 3:30 p.m. accident near the Big Bend section of California 133.
Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Don Barney said Ruble was passing a car in the center turn lane when he rounded a curve and confronted a car trying to merge into oncoming traffic.
The motorcycle hit the auto on its left front fender. The car driver was not injured.
Barney said the speed limit in the area ins 25 m.p.h. No charges have been filed, but Barney said police would probably charge Ruble with unsafe passing and speeding.
