Authorities said Friday that they are seeking a man suspected in two arson fires on May 30, one in Garden Grove, the other in Westminster.
Garden Grove police said the man they are seeking is of Vietnamese descent, between 30 and 40 years of age, 5-foot-4, weighs 120 pounds and has short black hair parted on the left. He is clean-shaven and dresses in business clothes.
On May 29, the suspect is believed to have delivered boxes wrapped in clear cellophane tape--and with U-Haul written on the outside of the package--to Binh Yen Fabrics in the 9600 block of Bolsa Avenue in Westminster, and the Vina Express in the 14400 block of Brookhurst Street in Garden Grove, Police Lt. John Woods said.
Both businesses ship packages to Vietnam, Woods said.
Early the next morning, the package at Vina Express exploded, burning down the business. The package at Binh Yen Fabrics flared briefly, but went out before it could damage the building. No one was injured in either fire, Woods said.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Garden Grove Police Detective D. Walker at (714) 741-5825 or (714) 741-5704.
