Four Chapman Players Taken in Baseball Draft

Four members of the Chapman College baseball team were selected in last week’s major league baseball free-agent draft, the college announced Tuesday.
Center fielder Bryan Beals was picked by the Los Angeles Dodgers, right-handed pitcher Dave Cantrell was chosen by the San Francisco Giants, and right-handed pitcher Jeff Mooney and shortstop Jeff Kidwiler were taken by the Toronto Blue Jays. The rounds in which the players were selected were not released.
Beals hit .312 with 27 stolen bases in 30 attempts as a senior. Cantrell, a junior out of West Los Angeles College, was 1-4 with a 5.75 ERA in 16 games.
Mooney, a senior, was 9-7 with a 4.95 ERA in 22 games, including 16 starts. Kidwiler, a second-team all-region choice as a junior, hit .325 with 15 doubles and 34 RBIs.
