Berle Salute Marks 40 Years Since ‘Texaco’ Debut

The 40th anniversary of Milton Berle’s debut as host of “Texaco Star Theater” (June 8, 1948, on NBC) will be marked at a salute tonight at 8 at the Bing Theater of the County Museum of Art. His association with the program led to his tag of “Mr. Television.”
The salute will include clips from Berle’s career along with tributes from Red Buttons, Jack Carter, Dina Merrill, Arnold Stang and Pat Weaver, among others.
The event is sponsored by the Museum of Broadcasting, the County Museum of Art and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
