Two-hundred thirty-nine acts--everything from musical saw players to sopranos--performed last weekend as part of the Variety Arts Theatre’s marathon weekend of vaudeville. Owner Milt Larsen said the idea was to demonstrate the theater’s unique role as a living repository of classic entertainment skills and to show that the theater is still in business. Larsen’s organization is in bankruptcy, and a buyer is being sought for the building.
