The Santa Clarita City Council has named five residents, including two unsuccessful candidates for a council seat, to the city’s newly created Parks and Recreation Commission.
Named to the commission Tuesday night are Todd R. Longfellow, a real estate appraiser; Michael Lyons, an environmentalist and a restaurant customer service manager; Linda Hovis Storli, a high school government teacher; Laurene Weste, an environmentalist and board member of the Placerita Canyon Homeowners Assn., and Donald Rimac, regional occupational placement coordinator, Los Angeles County schools.
Storli and Lyons ran for the City Council last November when voters approved Santa Clarita’s incorporation.
Commissioners will be sworn in June 23 and hold their first meeting in early July.
