Reacting to morale and staffing problems among nurses, Los Angeles County Supervisor Deane Dana proposed Thursday that $1.5 million be used to upgrade the status of nurses in county hospitals and clinics.
Dana’s plan includes establishing an Office of Nursing Affairs to improve hiring and retention of the 5,500 registered nurses employed by the county Department of Health Services.
The plan is scheduled to be considered at the supervisors’ meeting on Tuesday.
