A brush fire burned at least 500 acres in the northwest section of Camp Pendleton Thursday, the Marine Corps announced.
There were no injuries and no structures were damaged as the fire continued to burn Thursday night in the Camp Talega section of the base, east of Cristianitos Road, said Lt. Gene Browne.
As a precautionary measure, the base fire department requested assistance from Orange County firefighters, he said.
The fire was reported at about 12:45 p.m. in a remote canyon. Its cause had yet to be determined, Browne said.
