Kaufman & Broad Inc. reported a 10% increase in income to $9.7 million for the first quarter ended Feb. 29, compared to $8.8 million for the year-ago period. Revenue rose 44% to $422.7 million, up from $292.8 million in the comparable period last year. The Los Angeles-based life insurance and financial services holding company, active in the single-family housing market through its majority ownership of Kaufman & Broad Home Corp., said its performance was led by increased housing sales and strong growth in the sale of investment-oriented single-premium life insurance and annuity products.
