Local News in Brief : L.B. Freeway : Widening Project OKd

The California Transportation Commission has approved a $11.7-million construction project on the Long Beach Freeway in connection with work on the Century Freeway.
The work will involve building overpasses and bridge foundations for the Century Freeway as well as widening the Long Beach Freeway from Compton Boulevard to Rosecrans Avenue, where it runs through Compton, Lynwood and Paramount.
Construction is expected to start in September. The 17-mile Century Freeway, which runs from Norwalk to Los Angeles International Airport, is expected to be completed in 1993.
