Esperanza Holds Third in Western States Golf

Esperanza High School is in third place, with a 393 team score, after the opening round of the Western States Invitational high school golf tournament in Monterey.
Huntington Beach (397), Valencia (398), University (422) and Western (461) are other Orange County teams in the top 10, trailing Westlake, which leads with 379.
J.B. Broms of Valencia is in second place in individual competition, with a 72, behind leader Mike Bjursten of Marin Catholic with 70.
