Two men were arrested Sunday in a purse snatching at a Granada Hills supermarket, where an 83-year-old woman was dragged through the parking lot and run over, Los Angeles police said.
The Granada Hills woman, whom police declined to identify, was in critical condition Sunday at Holy Cross Hospital, authorities said.
Police said the woman was putting groceries in her car about 6 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of a Hughes market at Devonshire Street and Balboa Boulevard when one of two men in a passing car reached out and grabbed her purse. The woman clutched the purse and was dragged as the car drove away. Police said the car turned sharply, and its rear wheel ran over her.
Witnesses described the robbers’ car as a beat-up, white Camaro with a dent in the side, a local radio station sticker on the back bumper and no license plates, police said.
A car fitting that description was spotted by a patrol officer about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Two men in the car, whom police declined to identify, were taken into custody for questioning.
