Roundup : Winkelman Finishes Second in 3,200 at Pasadena Games

Shanon Winkelman of Marina High School ran a career-best 3,200 meter time of 9 minutes 4.1 seconds Saturday night to finish second in the event at the Pasadena Games track and field meet at Occidental College.
Ian Alsen of Granada Hills won the race in 9:02.06, and two hours later, went on to win the 1,600-meter race in 4:15.01.
Winkelman’s previous best was a 9:19 run in the same meet last year. Eddie Lavelle of Corona del Mar finished third in 9:07.60, a personal best by 9 seconds.
Other top Orange County performances included Corona del Mar’s Jim Robbins (third in the 800 meters in 1:54.69) and Greg Shryock (seventh in the 1,600 meters in 4:23.8).
