Question: I have filed application with the state Contractor’s License Board for a contractor’s license, however, it has now been returned to me three times as being incorrectly filled out. Is there any service or organization that can help me?
Answer: Al B. Conahan, president of the Conahan Group, has assembled a Contractor’s State License application kit that outlines all the procedures for filing an application.
The kit includes a sample form completed in a proper manner, and a tape recording that will take you step-by-step through the application form. This form is six pages long and very complicated.
The kit also includes experience and work records to substantiate your four-year requirement of work experience or education.
In addition, the kit has a sample examination containing 32 pages of questions testing your knowledge of the law and business and trade practices. These questions have been previously asked on state contractor’s examinations. Included is a sample of the examination answer sheet with instructions for how to mark it.
Other papers and forms include a final checklist to go through prior before sending in the form, a schedule of the license examinations to be given in Pasadena and Sacramento throughout 1988 (location addresses provided), plus a sample form for the request of license fee and an application for the $5,000 bond ($10,000 for a swimming pool contractor) required by the state.
Cost of the kit and instruction tape is $59.95 and can be ordered by phoning 800/367-8378.
