A 14-year-old boy was killed on a South-Central Los Angeles street corner when a carload of rival gang members pulled up and fired several shotgun blasts at him, Los Angeles police said Friday.
The drive-by shooting was the ninth gang-related killing this year in the Police Department’s Southwest Division, Detective John Bunch said.
Moises Martinez was standing on the corner of 24th Street and Budlong Avenue with another 14-year-old gang member when several shotgun blasts were fired from a small white car with four youths in it that pulled alongside the pair at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, Bunch said. The friend was not wounded.
Police were searching for the occupants of the car.
There was a history of “some fistfights” between the two gangs, Bunch said. “One of the gangs just carried out their threat.”
