A gunman robbed a Ford Motor Co. employee of $12,000 in cash as he tried to deposit the money into a night drop box at a bank, Orange police said.
Sgt. Joe Consoli said the victim, who was not identified, had driven to the night deposit at First Interstate Bank at City Center to drop off the money when he was confronted by the gunman about 4:15 p.m. Friday.
After the victim dropped a bag with the money, the suspect took it and drove off “in a 1986 black Corvette convertible,” Consoli said.
Consoli said the suspect was about 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighed 200 pounds. He was wearing a gray shirt with matching gray slacks, brown gloves and glasses.
Consoli said the money had come from the Ford Motor Co.’s offices in Orange.
