Detroit relief pitcher Willie Hernandez apologized to Detroit Free Press columnist Mitch Albom for dumping a bucket of water on the sportswriter in the Tigers’ spring training clubhouse Wednesday.

Hernandez said the incident was spurred both by a column Albom wrote last April and by comments Hernandez was told Albom made on a television program during the winter.
