Top-Ranked Canyon, Capistrano Valley Begin Search Today for Wrestling Titles

The Southern Section’s divisional wrestling championships begin today with two Orange County high schools ranked No. 1 in their divisions.
Canyon is top-ranked in 4-A, which will hold its two-day championship at Edison High. Capistrano Valley is No. 1 in 3-A, which will hold its championship at Rosemead High. The 2-A meet will be at Nogales High and the 1-A at Atascadero High.
All four of the divisions will start preliminary matches today at 3 p.m and resume Saturday at 11 a.m. Consolation finals are scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m., with finals scheduled for 7 p.m.
The meets will determine divisional team championships and qualify 17 wrestlers in each weight division who will compete against one another at the Masters meet on Feb. 27 at Fountain Valley High.
