Much-lauded director Billy Wilder is set to receive another honor, this one from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: the prestigious Irving Thalberg Award, honoring “a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production.” Wilder, who has won six Oscars and has been nominated 21 times, becomes the 26th individual to win the honorary award. Director-producer Steven Spielberg won last year.
