Five armed men robbed an Irvine jewelry store Tuesday, forcing its employees to lie on the floor while they gathered up several thousand dollars’ worth of gems, coins and watches, authorities said.
The robbers escaped only minutes before police arrived, an Irvine police spokesman said.
Police said none of the employees of Jewelry by Joan on Skypark Circle were injured in the 4:31 p.m. robbery.
An estimate of the jewelry firm’s losses was not immediately available, police said.
