ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Marxist South Yemen will resume diplomatic ties with Egypt next month, a Persian Gulf newspaper said Thursday.
Al Ittihad quoted informed Arab diplomatic sources in Aden as saying the two countries have had contacts to reopen their respective embassies.
The South Yemeni ambassador to the United Arab Emirates declined to confirm the report but added, “All I can say is that we are moving in that direction.”
Most Arab nations cut ties with Egypt to protest its 1979 peace treaty with Israel.
