Safety Official to Resign

WASHINGTON — Patricia A. Goldman, vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, said today she is resigning to become senior vice president for corporate communications for USAir Inc. on Feb. 16. Goldman had been mentioned among the possible successors to former Transportation Secretary Elizabeth Hanford Dole, who eventually was succeeded by James H. Burnley IV.
