YUPPIE BASHING
We shouldn’t reprehend the yuppies for diverging from their ‘60s counterparts. The frightening aspect of the yuppies is not how they differ but the extent to which they’ve become that infamous generation’s mirror image. Self-love could be the byword for both. The yuppies’ hunger after material possession, their endless quest for security and comfort is merely an analogue of the ‘60s hedonistic, self-aggrandizement shorn of pretense.
