Local News in Brief : Suspect Held, Others Sought in Bombs Case
- Share via
A man was in custody and other suspects were being sought Friday in connection with several homemade bombs found in an Encino apartment complex.
Los Angeles police said they could not reveal the names of the arrested man and other suspects for fear of interfering with an investigation by the Police Department’s Criminal Conspiracy Unit.
Police evacuated about 100 residents of Encino Oaks in the 5400 block of White Oak Avenue after the bombs were found Thursday afternoon. No one was injured.
Workers cleaning a vacant apartment in the 500-unit complex discovered the crudely fashioned explosive devices, said Detective Ronald Douglass. He would not disclose how many bombs were found.
The workers took the bombs to the office of the building manager, who called authorities, Douglass said. The explosives were defused by police within a few hours.
