NEW YORK — An exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will be on view through April 17, 1988, in the institute’s galleries at the museum.
The exhibition presents 66 costumes in a survey of the highlights of the museum’s collection of 3 centuries of fashionable urban Western dress. Each costume in the show tells its own story of fashion’s history--from a stately English dress of 1695 to a Dior ball gown.
