Empire League Roundup : Los Alamitos Is Alone in First After Victory

Bret Pagett scored 23 points and Dre Lamoureux had 22 Friday night to lead Los Alamitos High School to an 89-81 Empire League victory over El Dorado at El Dorado.
The Griffins (12-6, 3-0) led, 24-15, at the end of the first quarter and increased the margin to 52-31 at halftime. The Golden Hawks (9-6, 2-1) rallied in the fourth quarter, but came up short.
Los Alamitos, the only unbeaten team in league, is in sole possession of first.
Pagett also had 10 assists and 5 steals. Lamoureux had 15 rebounds.
Chris Facione scored 31 points and Charlie Stevens 21 for El Dorado.
Cypress 66, Loara 44--Greg Bedford scored a career-high 34 points to lead Cypress at home. Bedford was 11 of 18 from the field including three three-point shots and was also 9 of 13 from the free-throw line. Bond Weaver added 12 for Cypress (4-12, 1-2).
Paul Buchanan was the only Loara player in double figures with 13 points. Loara is 4-10, 0-3.
Esperanza 59, Katella 51--Forward Rob Nay scored 14 points and Gregory Pope added 13 as Esperanza won at Katella. Katella led, 13-11, at the end of the first quarter but Esperanza (7-7, 2-1) rallied to take a 29-21 lead. Esperanza widened the lead to 44-29 at the end of three quarters.
