Prep Soccer Roundup : Early Goal Starts Los Alamitos on Way to Win

Karen Kolodziej scored in the first 50 seconds off an assist from Julie Harris, and Los Alamitos High School went on to a 2-0 girls’ soccer victory over Loara Thursday.

The victory improved Los Alamitos to 16-2-1, 3-0 in the Empire League.

Leanna Jay scored in the match’s last minute off an assist from Jaycee Leitner.

In the Sunset League:

Westminster 0, Marina 0--Julie Oherle had 14 saves and combined with Pam Colangelo (3 saves) to shut out Marina (3-5-4, 0-0-3).

Marina’s Tracy Long had a penalty shot with less than a minute left in the match but shot the ball wide.

Marina goalies Cayanne Kramer and Christin Rossman combined for six saves.

Westminster is 0-2-1 in league.

In the Century League:

Foothill 1, Canyon 0--Kathy Shortall scored 25 minutes into the first half on a direct free kick at Foothill (2-6-3, 1-0-1). Canyon is 10-3-2, 0-1-1.

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 5, Bolsa Grande 0--Lara Crowley scored one goal and had four assists to lead La Quinta (9-3-1, 2-0) at Bolsa Grande. Robin Karnes and Cheryl Jones each scored two goals.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 9, Laguna Beach 0--Joanna Noble scored three goals and Kelly Besser two for Laguna Hills (10-5-1, 2-0) at Laguna Beach. Jenny Cowper, Xanne Brakke, Lindsey Rhebeck and Heather McIntyre also scored for Laguna Hills. Lynn Linbert had one save for Laguna Hills and Heather Braun 21 for Laguna Beach.

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 1, Dana Hills 0--Ginger Frank scored late in the first half for Capistrano Valley at Dana Hills. Pam Gladden had four saves for Capistrano Valley (11-2-1, 1-0-1) and Karla Gunderson had eight for Dana Hills (9-3-3, 1-1).

Mission Viejo 1, El Toro 1--Kim Maniscalco scored 11 minutes into the game for El Toro and Steph Cox scored two minutes later for Mission Viejo. Mission Viejo took 26 shots and El Toro 5. Paige Lauby of El Toro had 17 saves and Tamer deFries had 3 for Mission Viejo.

In boys’ Angelus League play:

Servite 3, St. Paul 0--Rhett Harty, Jim Berry and Erwin Garcia scored for Servite (12-4, 3-0) at home. Tom Nieto had two saves for Servite.

Anaheim 2, Brea-Olinda 0--Flavio Camacho scored in the first half and Juleo Zamora scored in the second for Anaheim (5-4-1, 1-0) at home. Jose Escobedo had eight saves for Anaheim.
