Manzanar

A Times editorial (“Something to Remember,” Dec. 26) called for California to consider making Manzanar, a World War II internment camp for American-Japanese citizens, a state park. The Times position seems correct and appropriate.
Recently, my wife and I were returning from the Mammoth area and we stopped at this very isolated, national historic landmark. We spent a half an hour going through the old ruins. Making this very beautiful and scenic spot a state park would help us to reflect upon what happened in World War II to our Japanese citizens and to never allow that to happen again.
