Some Other Adventures

Jerry Hulse’s article, “Adventure Vacations” (Dec. 13), was well written, interesting and comprehensive. However, research expeditions, such as those sponsored by Foundation for Field Research, may also be considered adventure vacations. We explore areas never before visited by tourists and participants make a contribution to, and actually assist, with scientific research.
For example, one of our ongoing expeditions takes participants to Sapo National Park, the first park ever established in Liberia, West Africa. Another example is our expedition by dugout canoe down the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea. The above are just two of our more than 20 research-adventure expeditions. We can be contacted at 787 S. Grade Road, Alpine, Calif. 92001-0380, or call (619) 445-9264.
