Alarm Scares Away Thief at Molina Home

A loud burglar alarm apparently foiled an attempted break-in Wednesday night at the home of Los Angeles City Councilwoman Gloria Molina, police reported.
According to Sgt. Paul Hermann of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division, neighbors of Molina on Canyon Vista Drive on Mt. Washington heard a “very audible alarm” about 6:30 p.m. and called police.
Responding officers found no suspect at the house and no items taken. The burglar had pried off an aluminum window screen, Hermann said, but seemed to have been “scared off by the alarm.” Molina was not home at the time.
