The city is trying to recruit a city clerk to replace Stephanie Swarner, who resigned Dec. 31. City Manager John Nowak said advertisements are being placed in newspapers and professional journals in the hope of filling the position by early February. It pays between $29,350 and $35,000 a year.
Swarner, a city employee for eight years, served as deputy and acting city clerk before her permanent appointment last May. She plans to move to the state of Washington next month.
