Walnut : Meetings on Recycling Plan
The city and Webster’s Refuse Disposal will hold two informational meetings to explain a proposed curb-side recycling program in which residents would separate newspapers, glass and aluminum from other trash. The meetings will be at 7 p.m. Monday and at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at Walnut City Hall, 21201 La Puente Road.
Walnut would probably finance the program through a monthly charge of $2.55 per household, a city spokesman said. Duarte, which is considering a similar program, has tentative plans to finance it through a city subsidy. Claremont, which has had a recycling program since 1982, has 37% of its households participating and is able to recycle 6% of its residential waste.
