The State : Anti-Smoking Law Pondered

In what would be one of the more restrictive anti-smoking laws in the nation, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors later this month will consider banning smoking in all county-owned buildings and prohibiting smoking in public places in the unincorporated areas of the county. Proposed by Supervisor Leon Williams, the plan, if enacted, would compel restaurants, bars and other businesses to provide separate rooms with separate air ventilation systems for smokers and nonsmokers--or ban smoking entirely on the premises--rather than simply designate smoking and nonsmoking areas, as they do now. In addition, smoking would be banned in outdoor areas such as sports arenas, stadiums, outdoor cafes and movie theater ticket lines.
