Thailand Firm on Ban Against Tibetan Leader

BANGKOK, Thailand — The government has rejected appeals by politicians and religious groups to lift a ban on a visit here by Tibet’s exiled Buddhist spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.
Spokesman Saroj Chavanviraj told reporters that Thailand could not let the Dalai Lama engage in Tibetan independence activities in this country.
