San Juan Capistrano : City to Seek Annexation of Ridge Line Property
- Share via
The City Council has voted to try again to annex 287 acres of the Bear Brand Ranch development.
By a vote of 5-0, the council this week adopted a resolution seeking to annex the land, a move designed to preserve the ridge lines on part of the hills west of the city.
Besides keeping ridge lines free of development, a longstanding policy of the city, the resolution also said annexation would allow San Juan Capistrano control over drainage, grading and other services.
The Local Agency Formation Commission will consider the annexation request on Nov. 18. Last August, the Local Agency Formation Commission denied the city’s request to take in the acreage, but later LAFCO director Richard Turner said a second petition for the move would be considered.
