A Garden Grove man set afire by his burning motorcycle was knocked down and rescued by passers-by Monday as he ran down Hacienda Boulevard in La Habra Heights, authorities said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gerald Fix said the cyclist, Richard Lowman, 33, lost control of his bike and was dragged with the machine, which turned over and spilled flaming gasoline all over him.
Two people who saw Lowman running down the street knocked him down and smothered the flames, Fix said.
One of the passers-by, Jayleene McManus of Hacienda Heights, is a former paramedic.
Fix said Lowman was taken to the burn ward at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center in Los Angeles.
